Saudi Suspected of Tapping Amazon Mobile Boss Jeff Bezos
Jakarta, CNN Indonesia - The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia reportedly intercepted a cellphone belonging to Amazon's Executive Director, Jeff Bezos, and then stole data. It was suspected that this was to suppress the conglomerate so that his newspaper, The Washington Post, stopped reviewing cases of murder of their columnist, Jamal Khashoggi.

"Our investigators and a number of experts concluded with great confidence that the Saudis had accessed Bezos cellphones, and took personal data," said security consultant colleague Bezos, Gavin de Becker, as reported by Reuters on Sunday (31/3).
According to de Becker, the Saudis allegedly leaked intimate conversations between Bezos and the former female television host allegedly his lover, Lauren Sanchez. He suspected the Saudis were doing this to target the Washington Post, so as not to report on the Khashoggi case.
Articles and photos about Bezos and Sanchez's relationship appeared in National Enquirer magazine. In February, Bezos said the magazine was about to extort it.
Khashoggi was killed at the Saudi Consulate in Istanbul on October 2, 2018. At that time he wanted to arrange a residence document because he would marry his lover, Hatice Cengiz.
The United States Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) concluded that Khashoggi's murder was carried out by a team allegedly ordered by Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.
According to de Becker, he has now submitted the results of his investigation to the US federal authorities.
"US citizens will be surprised to learn that the Saudi government has intended to harm Bezos since last October, when (Washington) Post began writing the Khashoggi case," De Becker said.
